“Rongyuan” Hard Rock Jacking and Tunnelling Machine Successfully Launched

On January 22, the “Rongyuan” hard rock jacking and tunnelling machine was officially launched at the Fuqing Dongzhang Reservoir to the Jiangyin Industrial Zone Water Supply Project, marking the full commencement of tunnel excavation works for the project.

The “Rongyuan” hard rock jacking and tunnelling machine features an excavation diameter of 3.69 meters and an overall machine length of 120 meters. It will undertake a total tunneling length of 1,522 meters, including a 1,000-meter pipe jacking section and a 522-meter shield tunneling section. Geological conditions along this section are particularly challenging, involving extremely hard rock, soft rock, and alternating composite strata, placing exceptionally high demands on the equipment’s overall performance and engineering adaptability.

To address these technical challenges, Tangxing Technology, in collaboration with partner organizations such as Shaanxi Liang, carried out systematic technical development and optimization. The “Rongyuan” hard rock jacking and tunnelling machine is equipped with a heavy-duty hard rock cutting system and an intelligent slurry circulation real-time monitoring module. In response to the differing process requirements of pipe jacking and shield tunneling, the machine is respectively fitted with a high-efficiency friction-reduction system and a high-thrust excavation system. Building on this foundation, the project team also developed an innovative variable-mode conversion technology between pipe jacking and shield tunneling, along with a multi-modal guidance and measurement system. These innovations significantly enhance the machine’s flexibility, adaptability, and stable control under complex geological conditions.

This project is a major infrastructure initiative in Fuqing City. Upon completion, it will effectively optimize regional water resource allocation and play an important role in promoting sustainable economic and social development. The successful launch of the “Rongyuan” hard rock jacking and tunnelling machine demonstrates Tangxing Technology’s technical strength and integrated innovation capabilities in the field of high-end trenchless equipment. The machine will provide strong support for the safe and efficient advancement of the project, while also offering a new equipment solution for underground construction in complex geological environments.
