The “Henglong” Rectangular Pipe Jacking Machine of Jinan Rail Transit Line 4 Was Successfully Launched

Recently, as the cutter head of the “Henglong”rectangular pipe jacking machine at the launching shaft of the underground pipe jacking section slowly rotated, the 5.5m×9.1m large earth pressure balance rectangular pipe jacking machine at the Exit A of the west station of Xingcun Interchange in the 10th work area of the Phase I project of Jinan Metro Line 4 was successfully launched, marking the project’s entering a new construction stage.

This section of the pipe jacking construction passes under Jinan's main road, Jingshi Road. The total length of the project is 79.5 meters. The strata in the construction area are complex, consisting of clay layers and some pebbles. Additionally, there is a lot of traffic in the surrounding area and underground pipelines are densely distributed like a network, which puts extremely high demands on construction safety, settlement control and equipment stability. To meet these challenges, the project team selected Tangxing Technology's RPB 5500mm*9100mm rectangular pipe jacking machine, which is equipped with complex geological efficient cutting technology, high-performance power drive and sealing devices, and efficient and reliable spiral excavation systems and other advanced technologies to ensure that the project can proceed smoothly even in harsh environments. The application of the rectangular pipe jacking method not only effectively utilizes urban space, but also greatly reduces stratum disturbance, minimizing the impact of construction on road traffic.

As the east-west backbone line of the city, the construction of the first phase of Jinan Rail Transit Line 4 is of far-reaching significance. Upon completion, the project will greatly ease the traffic pressure on Jingshi Road, and at the same time connect important urban functional areas such as Jinan West Station, CBD, Olympic Sports Center, and Jinan Section of Shandong Pilot Free Trade Zone, bringing more convenience to Jinan citizens.
