The Successful Launch of the Rectangular Pipe Jacking Machine in Section 2 of the Qianhai-Huanggang Port Area of the Guangzhou-Dongguan-Shenzhen Intercity Railway

On December 27th, accompanied by the resounding noise of machinery, the "Ocean" rectangular pipe jacking machine's cutter head began to rotate slowly, marking the successful launch of the rectangular pipe jacking machine in Section 2 of the Qianhai-Huanggang Port area of the Guangzhou-Dongguan-Shenzhen intercity railway.

The pipe jacking section in Section 2 of the Qianhai-Huanggang Port area spans 62.8 meters, with a tunnel burial depth ranging from 2.3 to 4.4 meters. It constitutes a single-layer, single-span rectangular tunnel with a longitudinal slope of 13.9‰, advancing from north to south. The construction environment along this section is complex, requiring the pipe jacking machine to pass under Hongli Road and traverse over Metro Line 3, making the construction process challenging.

The "Ocean" is a large-section rectangular pipe jacking machine specifically tailored by Tangxing Technology for this project. Its pipe jacking section measures 8 meters in height and 8.735 meters in width. To address the unique demands of large-section rectangular jacking in this project, the cutter head's structural form has been optimized. This optimization enhances the cutter head's wear resistance and crushing capabilities, ensuring safe and efficient equipment excavation. The rectangular pipe jacking method offers continuous tunneling, reduced noise, minimal construction-related pollution, and limited disturbance to the surrounding soil during construction.

Upon completion, the Qianhai-Huanggang Port section of the Guangzhou-Dongguan-Shenzhen intercity railway will facilitate the "transitization" of local intercity and intra-city commuter traffic, playing a crucial role in improving the intercity rail network in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
