Tangxing Technology: Repurposing the "Jinfeng" Double-Shield TBM for the Shanxi Zhangfeng Reservoir Jincheng Water Diversion Project

On November 8th, Tangxing Technology celebrated a significant achievement as they rolled off the remanufactured "Jinfeng" double-shield TBM in their trenchless industrial park. This customized TBM is now set to embark on a new journey within the Shanxi Zhangfeng Reservoir Jincheng water diversion project.

Tunnel No. 2 of the Zhangfeng Reservoir Jincheng Water Diversion Project spans an impressive 5 kilometers and presents a challenging full-section hard rock formation with a tunneling section of 4.16 meters. Faced with a variety of factors, including the project's site environment, topography, and geological conditions, Tangxing Technology's R&D team continually refined and optimized their plan. Leveraging TBM remanufacturing technology, they breathed new life into an aging Robbins TBM, transforming it into a double-shield TBM tailored to the project's specific requirements. The equipment now boasts quality and performance that rivals new machines. Notably, this marks Tangxing Technology's inaugural remanufacture of a small-diameter TBM with a 4.16-meter cutter head. Technicians systematically inspected, diagnosed, and repaired various components, and simultaneously conducted technical research and equipment investment for key processes, including remanufactured product evaluation, non-destructive disassembly, green cleaning, efficient molding, and application monitoring. This comprehensive life-cycle remanufacturing approach significantly enhances the safety and stability of the TBM and other equipment, providing robust support for the Jincheng water diversion project.

Tangxing Technology has successfully produced a range of TBMs, including slurry balance shield TBMs, earth pressure balance shield TBMs, and open TBMs. The triumphant remanufacture of double-shield TBMs underscores Tangxing Technology's ability to provide highly adaptable, state-of-the-art equipment to address the demands of crucial national infrastructure projects.
