Junan County Water System Connection Project Has Made Significant Progress

Recently, in the tunnel excavation of the water system connection project from Doushan Reservoir to Shiquanhu Reservoir in Junan County, the highly anticipated "Tianma Island No. 1" and "Tianma Island No. 2" shield tunnel boring machines worked hand in hand, and the cumulative excavation distance exceeded 2,000 meters, marking a leap forward in the project.

 

Looking back to August 27th, 2023, the "Tianma Island No. 1" shield tunnel boring machine set off from the south end and excavated firmly towards the north; and the "Tianma Island No. 2" shield tunnel boring machine was carefully built in the Tangxing Technology Trenchless Industrial Park and was successfully rolled off the production line on September 20th. It set off from the north end and excavated steadily to the south. The two shield tunnel boring machines are like sharp swords heading towards the north and south, jointly writing a glorious chapter in engineering construction.

 

The two shield tunnel boring machines, "Tianma Island No. 1" and "Tianma Island No. 2", have an excavation diameter of 4.41 meters and a magnificent length of 85 meters, with a total weight of 365 tons. They integrate a number of cutting-edge technologies such as heavy-duty hard rock cutter heads, three-dimensional circulation systems, displacement shearing and crushing technology, intelligent rail transportation, honeycomb segment assembly technology, and multi-mode filling, realizing the modular and miniaturized innovative design of hard rock tunnel boring machines. The use of these innovative technologies has enabled the shield tunnel boring machine to successfully overcome multiple challenges such as high rock hardness, long jacking distance, and complex technical conditions when facing a tunnel as long as 8,000 meters and a rock hardness of up to 180 MPa.

 

The Junan County Doushan Reservoir to Shiquanhu Reservoir water system connection project aims to achieve optimal allocation of water resources in the county by connecting the Xunhe River and Jilong River.
